We receive a vast volume of email daily - and often enough we encounter
the same questions over and over. This page contains the answers to
our most Frequently Asked Questions.
- "What's PLYCON stand for? What's it mean? Help, it scares
me!"
Don't fret chummer - it's nothing spooky! We'll offer some possibilities
and you go with whichever one gives you the best "warm and fuzzy" feeling.
;-)
(1) It's an old gaming term. ex: "Dude, don't plycon that
twelve-sider!"
(2) Certain ancient pacts and secret oaths prevent us from really
telling you.
(3) It's an insider's joke from our old, long past tabletop gaming
days.
- "Do you have this item in stock?"
It's easy to check the availability of any item on our website. Simply
hit the ADD ITEM button for the product you're interested in. Once
you hit that button, a new page will load and display the availability
of the product in question. If the item is in stock in our warehouse
- the cart will show it as available for ordering. If an item is out
of stock the availability will show as "SOLD OUT" and the
shopping cart will not let you order it. If it is available, hit the "ADD
TO CART" button and you've now got one in your shopping basket
ready to checkout.
- "Why don't you guys offer the ability to pre-order or back-order
items?"
Our policy is simple: WE ONLY SELL WHAT WE HAVE IN STOCK.
Distributors are notorious for making shipping date promises only to
have them fall through. When you tell a customer an item will be in on
a certain date (based on what your distributor has told you) and it doesn't
show up on time - it makes you look bad. That happens too often in this
business, so we just eliminated back-orders and pre-orders. This prevents
any misunderstandings, shipping delays, confusion on who gets what first,
etc.
- "Why don't you guys ship to APO/FPO addresses?"
We do actually - but at this time Fed-Ex does not support shipping to
APO or FPO, or any type of PO address. We switched over to Fed-Ex after
having too many packages go missing using the Post Office. The lack
of real-time tracking, and the nightmare of trying to get the post
office to honor claims also pushed us to go Fed-Ex exclusively. Orders
that ship to APO/FPO addresses have to be shipped using US Mail. Packages
shipped this way have no tracking and no insurance. If they go missing
we will not replace them for free.
- "I wanted to know if you would send us something to review?"
We have several long standing relationships with some of the internet's
biggest hardware review sites (ex: HardOCP). They always have first
choice of our products. If the regular group of websites that we work
with passes on something, we'll try to work with a site we haven't
helped before. If you have a hardware review website, please feel free
to inquire. If you're a private individual without any type of website
affiliation, or any type of published online work - the answer would
be NO. Sorry, but we're asked for free items all the time and have
to set some limits...
- I don't really feel comfortable putting my credit card number
online. How can I order?
You will still place your order through our website - but at checkout
- select "Paypal" as your payment method and then call us during
normal business hours, give us the order number, and your credit card
data, and we will process it that way for you. Your card will be subject
to the standard verifications of course.
- Why did your shopping cart decline my credit card?
Usually the three most commons reasons are:
(1) The billing address you entered is NOT matching what
the issuing bank has on file. If you're 100% sure that the information
you entered is 100% correct - please contact us via email and give
us the 1-800 phone number off the back of your credit card. We will
then contact the issuing bank and get voice verification of your
billing data and then process your order manually.
(2) You are using a check debit card. Often these cards can not have
their billing address verified by our online bank - so we would need
the 1-800 number off the back of the card like in possibility number
one mentioned above.
(3) You have a credit card issued by an international bank. We only
accept credit card orders from US customers with cards issued by
US based banks. Sorry, too much fraud out there for us to make exceptions
to this rule.
- What do I do if something is missing from my order?
Contact us ASAP. You have three days after the confirmed Fed-Ex delivery
date to notify us an item is missing from your order. After three days
we will not be able to do anything for you.
- Does Plycon pay for return shipping costs of defective products?
Sorry, Plycon is not responsible for manufacturer defects. We will gladly
replace defective items within our 30 day warranty period. Since we
are not the manufacturers of any of the items we sell - we split the
costs with the customer - the customer pays to send it back - and we
pay to ship the replacement back to the customer.
- I did not get an order confirmation. Did the order go through?
Possibly. Our shopping cart sends an auto-confirmation order summary
email less than a minute after you hit the SUBMIT button on the site
to submit your order. If you typed in your email addy with a small
typo - then there is no way you would receive that mail. Best thing
to do is just give us a call ASAP and get voice verification from the
staff. We'll let you know quickly if we received an order or not from
you.
- Does Plycon cross ship?
If the product is within our 30 day warranty, we will refund on the item
being returned and charge for a new item being shipped out (and credit
back your account when we receive the RMA product). All RMAs are shipped
via Fed-Ex Express 3Day. Faster shipping methods would have to be paid
for by the customer.
- I can't seem to place more than one item in my shopping cart!
Sounds like you have cookies disabled in your web browser or your firewall
(software or hardware). Our shopping cart software has to have cookies
on in order to function.
- Does Plycon have a mailing list or product notify list I can
sign up for?
Sorry, we don't. It comes across as SPAM to many people - so we prefer
not to use them.
